(overview)

Sheltered by sweeping roofs, this residence is both suspended and grounded, hovering above the Pacific Ocean against the Santa Ynez mountains. Engaging the California forest as its partner.

This project creates a comforting tension, winding between past and present, views and concealment.

Utilizing the hushed tones of oak savannah and local sandstone, the structure recedes, acting purely as a platform for daily life. It does not compete with the environment—it allows the delicate ecology of the mountainous site to encapsulate every experience.
